At Warehome studios, we are now able to create glass tile designs that
have been carved in clay. A specially formulated ceramic tile mold is
created and then glass is slumped into the design. This method produces
a detailed relief design on the backside of the tile that shows through
the translucent glass. Once set in tile setter’s mud, the design takes
on a completely different look. The surface of the tile is smooth and shiny,
while exhibiting a high level of detail within the glass. Depending on the
design, these tiles often require additional hand polishing to create straight,
clean edges.
